Yes, I found it very depressing to keep a diary and realise how often I need help (even if I don't actually get it)!

Would letters be good for esa claims as well? I have just managed to write one for a friend of mine who i have known for 4 years after we attended a mental health recovery group. Thanks for all replies, i wish you all luck.

There is no reason why a claimant for ESA should not include letters from friends and family, however, since the descriptors for ESA are far more specific than those for DLA, any corresponding letters will need to be as well, if they are to be specific.

I went through the descriptors with my friend, and through my own observations in foru years have written a letter for her what she has problems with the descritpors in relation to her illness and how if affects her everday and the limits it imposes, she showed her therpist what i had written yesterday and she said it was clear and concicse. My husband wrote a letter?statement to include with my recent dla claim, it was his own words and observations and when I read it I was at first quite upset as I didn't realise how much I relied on everyone in the house let alone how my emmotions on dealing with my illness had impacted too. the letter went off along with detailed medical evidence, I think it did help as I got my award(have just posted the news!)
