Free ESA, PIP and DLA Updates

With over 140,000 subscribers our fortnightly updates bulletin is the UK's leading source of benefits news. Get the facts about what's changing, how it affects you and how to prepare.   Get your free benefits updates now.

Whether you are a support worker, carer or claimant you might be interested in our online PIP quizzes.

It’s our first step towards creating an effective training resource, as an alternative to face-to-face training courses.

The software is quite basic at this stage. It won’t save your scores, tell you which questions you got wrong or issue you with a certificate.

But we’re very keen to get feedback on what we’ve created so far.

In total there are 12 short quizzes, covering the PIP daily living and mobility activities.

So, if you have the time, do give them a try and let us know what you think.

Please note, the quizzes are available to subscribing members only.

You can find them in the PIP section of the members area.

Its a really good idea to package the specific knowledge on how the criteria are defined and applied into a set of individual points. The quiz format would work fine provided that wrong answers bring up the correct answer so that users can correct their misunderstandin gs. This is especially important on the areas where its just a matter of factual knowledge eg "Can you get a mobility award on the basis of agoraphobia alone?" If the quiz is going to work as a training tool at that level of detail then it needs to be comprehensive. Its no use if it trains you for agoraphobia and you are actually interested in how to apply the criteria to chronic fatigue.

Hi,
I lead the volunteer benefits team at the Sussex MS Treatment Centre and these quizzes will be invaluable when you have finalised them. We could really do with something like this to help train both new and experienced volunteers.

I passed the sections that apply to MS like eating and drinking and washing and bathing, but definitely need to do more work on those like communicating and reading.

My comments on the quiz:
For questions where you have to select a descriptor it would save some of the guessing if you put the descriptor as described on the PIP Claim Form alongside the descriptor letter. After all the person filling in (or helping) will be able to see this.

It would be helpful if you could provide references to source information with some of the answers. In our case this would be particularly helpful with regards to mental health. (People with MS often have cognitive problems that fluctuate, and we would like to know the best way to present them.)

I would like to help moderate so please contact me via email, which goes to our manager, but which she will forward to me . Thanks Lin

Without knowing the 'correct' answers, After taking the test, this quiz is somewhat pointless.
You can continue to take each test without ever knowing what you have got right or wrong.
Therefore you do Not lean a thing.
Yes this tests your knowledge, No it does Not improve it.

They seem to be aimed more at professionals. I hadn't a clue most of the time and just guessed. Maybe that's why I go no points on my PIP claim!
