Can you tell other claimants anything about travel and facilities for this PIP face-to-face assessment centre?

Please post in the comments section below if you can.

Things like:

  • Distance to nearest bus stop or rail station.
  • Nearest parking, any disabled parking.
  • Distance to walk if you’re dropped as close to the door as possible.
  • Wheelchair access.
  • Toilets, including disabled toilets.
  • Ground floor or first floor.
  • Lift available.
  • Anything else you think might be helpful.

Please don’t comment on the staff though – we won’t be able to publish your comments if you do.

Hi - I had an assessment appt for 1 pm today, I took a cab as not very mobile, mental health not too good.. Unfortunately the cab driver dropped at wrong place, and drove off.. Very difficult place to find ( asked numerous people were guided wrong ) Eventually reached the assessment center 23 minutes late!!.. As front was open, went in expecting a reception, where I could explain my self.. No one in Reception, rang a bell for someone’s attention.. Waited 15 mins, and than someone opened the door .. Very unhelpful.. saying I’m late and can’t be seen, and they have already sent my form back electronically saying did not attend.. No amount of explanation helped.. Was told to ring on Friday dwp and explain or May have to re-apply!!!
I am so stressed at the level of compassion, help etc not shown by assessment center..!!!

It is located almost at the end of a oneway system, on the right hand side, just behind Reeves Corner opposite a very old looking building. There is a bus stop about 160m away just round the corner and a tram stop about 300m away on Church Street, even those have their one way system so it will depend on which direction you are coming from.
The map they provided showed the incorrect location as being the next building rather than 1d. The door is directly onto the street and the sign is easy to miss as there are bushes and you have to look out for the sign PFAS or Courtyard House rather than Synergy Centre. The building is setback slightly from the road. There is wall and a vehicle entrance that goes through the building next to the entrance.
The waiting area is the entrance lobby so only has about 3 seats.
It is only just accessible by wheelchair. Doors are narrower than is ideal and if you have a larger wheelchair it would be problematic. Assessment was conducted in the ground floor room for wheel chair users as there is no lift in the building. The ground floor had step free access
Beware of the clock in the ground floor assessment room. It does not work.
Assessment took over 2 hours and was also delayed in starting by an hour because of previous appointments also overrunning. So allow extra time especially warn any support workers helping you.
There are some on street parking bays outside the next building but get filled fast. Taxis can drop off almost directly outside the door on the single yellow line.
The pavements were partly blocked by wheeled bins from the office building.
