I've just been to the CAB for them to look at the statement of reasons. They believe that there may be an error in law which may get another 2 points but they are not confident and I'd need 3 points anyway on top of current 5. They cannot take it any further and can't recommend a solicitor or know any costs.
The other option is to reapply but the adviser said that for this I really need a specialist mental health report. The problem is the cuts to the local mental health trust mean that I am no longer able to see anyone. The person at the CAB suggested I try to pay get a report from a private psychiatrist. A thorough report from my GP is said not to be sufficient. My GP only wrote a short report for the previous application but is happy to write more of given the right format for one.
I'm completely confused, exhausted both physically and emotionally and not quite sure what to do next. This has been going on for over a year now, I can tell as my subscription fit Benefits and Work is due to expire in a few days.
Any advice?

Remember a UTT Judge may not agree that there is an Error.
Although a UTT Judge can impose a Decision it is rare for them to do so, more usually they will remit the case to a new FTT hearing with instructions on how to avoid the Error. The FTT may still not award extra points, they will be hearing your claim from scratch.
I'm afraid I cannot comment on what you need to have in place to make a new claim, but one of the things to consider is how well this report may support you in explaining your problems in completing the PIP activities
