PIP, how do Atos decide who assesses. was created by lizzie_wa
Does anyone know if the DWP/Atos have any criteria on who is assessed by a nurse, doctor, physio etc. for PIP? Are there any conditions that necessitate assessment by a doctor,? how would i find out.? I have multiple conditions including two neurological conditions and when I had my PIP assessment this week by a nurse I felt he just didnt understand the neurological conditions., nor the tests, or surgeries I had had for them. Several years ago when I was assessed for ESA I was told by Atos I would need to be assessed by a doctor because of my multiple conditions, although they didnt stipulate which onces neccessitated a doctor assessing. I was assessed by a doctor back then and he did understand (I was awarded ESA which unfortunately because it was Wrag, Contributions based ended after a year when the government started its welfare reforms). Thank you in advance.

There are certainly guidelines that both ATOS and Capita use to make a decision on this, there is a copy of these in the public domain for ESA, although it predates Maximus doing the assessments, but I've not seen a copy for PIP and we do know that the documentation for DLA is not used for PIP assessments.

The problems is both Assessment Providers appear to regularly ignore the guidance and the claimant has no rights to demand a doctor over a nurse on the day.

Confused here because I was asked on phone if I wanted evidence from my last dla review (4 years ago) to be used in PIP assesment. I agreed.

Sorry Mick, I'm not sure what you are asking?

Gordon said documentation from dla is not used for PIP assesments but on initial phone call to dwp I was asked if I wanted the evidence /info from last dla review 2012 to be used to help assess PIP claim. I agreed.

I think you have misunderstood the question that was asked, this topic has nothing to do with DLA assessment reports being used for PIP :)
