Most members report hearing from ESA within a few weeks. However, where there are delays they tend to be long ones!
Unfortunately, DWP are under no obligation to complete the process in any particular time frame
If phoning DWP/Maximus is not helpful, you could try asking your MP to intervene. Although they cannot interfere with the legal process or decision, they can sometimes get things moving in situations like this.
Contacting your MP
May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return in future with further questions or comments about your ESA without having to start a new topic each time. You probably remember that it helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept in one topic - and I hope you will find it useful too

Sammie69 wrote: I have been receiving ESA and in the wrag group but as it was contribution based this is due to end in a week's time. Due to a change in my circumstances I asked to be reassessed and sent the form back 13 weeks ago and have still heard nothing. I have tried to ring them and managed to get through a couple of weeks ago only to be told they have received my form but have no idea what is happening. Can you tell me how long I can expect to wait to hear if I have to go through a face to face assessment or not. I was recently awarded PIP which I am sure was only down to the help I had from you guys so thank you very much .
Have you checked whether you would be eligible to receive Income Related ESA?
ESA(IR) is dependant on your household income, your savings and assets, and any hours that your partner works. See
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
If you think that you would be then ask the DWP for an ESA3 form.

Being in the work related group I was supposed to attend monthly interviews to discuss cv's etc but even they couldn't understand why I was in that group and not support. I had to have phone calls as it was too much for me to attend.
I guess I'm just going to have to wait and see but it doesn't seem fair as they don't realise my life such as it is is on hold.

I would put your information into one of the online benefit calculators, your husband retiring and your owning your house are not specific reasons why you cannot receive ESA(IR).
