ESA support group mental health . 2 weeks 2 days ago #174567

Hi 7 months after I filled in ESA 50 I received appointment for medical assessment . I have been in support group for 5 years . I was too ill to attend and a friend phoned and cancelled for me and they gave her a fax number for my GP to send a letter explaining how unwell I am and attending an assessment is very difficult and makes me suicidal . I received another lappontment date from them written before she sent the fax . I just don't know what to do . I was so distressed at last medical and can't face it again . I have also been invited to apply FOR PIP even though my award was indefinite . I am 62.5 years old and had I got my pension at 60 would not be in this awful state . I have no money other than benefits so have no options .
Any advice please

It may still be possible to get a home assessment or perhaps even a paper assessment but you or your friend needs to contact Maximus immediately.

If you don't attend the second appointment then your ESA claim will be closed, although you will be given an opportunity to explain why, but at best this would most likely result in your being given another opportunity to attend.

You can try contacting your MP for assistance on the matter

Not answer any question I'd put it aside till he came evry medication I am on was written down and I was asked what it was for how it helped any side effects from medication she was okay but as she was early I was paranoid she was out to trick me I was lucky I got same rates as I had before but I also suffer mental health issues I did not score as high with some. Questions as I thought I got 18 for mobility and 16 for care as I was so happy to get back for ten yrs what I had I was over the moon .since this assessment I can say I was never so stressed in my life but I've since found out I put Parkinson specialist letter Parkinson specialist nurse letter from mental health team and other support letters my go to I have since found out not one of them were contacted about my conditions what's the point of stressing you out trying to get as much evidence as possible then they do not contact any one it made me angry I was going to complain but was scared I'd lose my benefit they have got you evry way but I was lucky to get mine back I really appreiciiate all help from bw there help was brilliant so don't give up read questions carefully and have someone with you at assessment as witness good luck to all that has still to be accessed

I'm very glad you got the award you deserve, thanks for letting us know.

It is not common for the claimant's medics to be contacted (DWP do not have any duty to do so), that's why we suggest that members include everything they can in support of their claim.
