Letter informing that all DLA is ending was created by Arwen Matthews
I visited a friend for the first time in months, yesterday and she shakily showed me a letter from the DWP stating that DLA was ending and EVERYONE needs to claim for PIP by a certain date, even if their claim has no end date.

Her letter came recently, but she can't remember when as her memory is shot. It gives a few weeks to put the claim in :(

I haven't heard anything about this or received a letter. This is really scary.

Is this really being done en masse?! Do I need to call the DWP and ask where my letter is?

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Your friend is correct in saying that everyone on DLA, who was under the age of 65 years in April 2013, will be 'invited' to claim PIP at some stage. This includes people who had indefinite awards.

However, there is (as yet) no one date by which everyone must have applied. DWP are writing to people individually and 'inviting' the claimant to apply. Unless this is done by a certain date the DLA will be terminated.

I cannot tell you when to expect the letter as claimants are being selected at random. If you are worried you can contact DWP. However, I would expect them to be able to tell you whether a letter has/has not being sent out but not when to expect it.

Our PIP guide explains the process and the criteria for PIP
