Re: PIP recording

I'm not following the position about recording an assessment. Both the assessors guidelines and ATOS own page (www.atoshealthcare.com/pip/at_your_consultation) state very clearly that a claimant is permitted to record their assessment (if prior notice is given, etc). So how can there be any question about such permission not being granted?

Also, with respect to the type of equipment usable - does it include two small/separate walkman recorders or does the device have to be a single unit which can record on two tapes at the same time. Just that the latter units are so big and heavy, that I wouldn't be able to lift and transport one of those.

As far as I am aware, there is usually no problem in openly recording a PIP assessment as long as it has been agreed in advance. The only reason I can think of for the request being refused is if the Assessment Provider cannot find anyone who will agree to being recorded.

It is perfectly acceptable to use 2 separate recording devices.

Wife had PIP assessment yesterday, we recorded using two small cassette recorders. the only difference is that you have to sign some more forms at the assessment centre,
