Hi I went for my ftf today, and the 'health professional' asked if it was OK for him to write to my doctor about things we had discussed e.g mental health issues, I had to sign a letter to say he could, I just needed to get out off there, but now I am wondering what this could mean??? Thank you

It's usually to the claimants advantage if the assessor writes to their doctors, you might want to contact your GP and see whether they want discuss the assessor's questions before they reply to the request.

I mean is he just saying this because he wants to help me? Or as he made out in the interview you will hear within two weeks? Or do you think he is writing to the doctor to help his decision? Have you heard of it before, that someone has to sign something in an assessment to forward details on to gp.?

Without an understanding of the conversation anything we cam up with would be a guess.

There are reasons, as part of the assessment process, for them to contact your GP. A responsible assessors who had concerns about your health might also want to contact your GP to make sure that you receive the support that you need.

I don't think in either case that it is a bad thing.
