DLA TO PIP was created by dchbrown
I just wanted to post a thank you to all the good people at Benefits and Work.

I have just completed the PIP form for my wife using your guides. We have used them for both DLA and ESA from 2012 onwards and they have been invaluable.

They were again this time too - thank you ever so much.

I hope that i will come back online in the new year to report on our progress.

QQ - What are the delays like for face-to-face and decisions? I remember them being very bad a couple of years ago.

Thank you all again.

Hi and thank you for your kind words.

Although there are still occasional delays, on the whole PIP claimants are hearing back (either from the assessment provider with an appointment for a face2face or from DWP saying that they have what they need to make a decision) within a few weeks.

We expect a decision letter to be dispatched 4-8 weeks after DWP have the case file back.

I hope you do not have to wait long for a favourable decision.

Well, been for the medical today.

Interesting start to proceedings - appointment at 3.15pm, but received a call at 9.45am to see if we could attend early. How early i asked? Right now was the reply!

My wife wanted to get it out of the way so we agreed, and 10 minutes later when leaving the house the phone rang again - can we move it back to 3.15pm please? No you cant!

So we had a bit of a wait upon arrival at the centre. After 45 minutes, we were only in the actual assessment for 20 minutes - the assessor said they had similar conditions to my wife and knew all about her problems. My wife was upset, crying and generally unable to answer most of the questions asked, so i did my best to make sure i got all of the points across from your guides.

It either went very very well, too well in fact or it went horribly wrong i am not sure which.

I guess we will wait for the decision now...

You should be able to request a copy of the assessment report in a couple of days by contacting the DWP office dealing with your wife's claim.
