I've just received my results letter from pip and only received standard rate care . I'm going to write asking for a MR because I don't agree with the decision.
Reading though the reasons off the assessor it states I answered her ok even though she was "a stranger" but it doesn't state that I had my daughter with me .
Also they didn't award the mobility component even though I have to have someone with with when I go out because of high anxiety and panic attacks when I do have to go out .
The assessor could see I was stressing out because she kept saying that it was nearly finished and I could go home .
Also on a different topic before Christmas I was told that I didn't qualify for the severe disability premium because there was another adult living with me.
I had to a MR and I did this with a email which they gave me the address stating that even though I have 2adult children living with me my son who is severely disabled can't look after himself never mind me , and my daughter lives on campus during term time at university and comes home if she hasn't got any placements .
This is the first time I've come across such a ruling I don't know if it's new but seems pretty petty to me I've just got to wait and see what the outcome is.
I've just read though your guide about doing a MR, do I put down all the reasons that I disagree with their decision in the letter or do I have to wait for a form
Thanks Helen

Hi Helen,

I'm sorry that you did not get the PIP award that you feel you should have.

There is no special from needed to request an MR. You should explain how/why you believe you should have scored points against the descriptors. If you think you said everything you could have in the PIP2 form, point out where the Decision Maker can find this information.

If you hope to score mobility points because of mental health problems, have a look at the wording used by DWP and try to reflect that in your letter.

Do you have a copy of the assessor's report? If not, it is well worth getting one (DWP will send one out on request) as it will give you a better idea why you did not score the points you expected. However, if this has not arrived in time for you to get your MR request in, send in the request and explain that you will be sending in further information when you have seen it. DWP should then allow you some extra time to get this to them.

The SDP is payable if there is no other adult living with you. Your son should be discounted for this purpose if he is also in receipt of DLA/PIP.

ESA Premiums

Please re[ply to this message with further questions or comments about your PIP rather than starting a new topic each time as we ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic.

Hi I finally had the courage to phone pip and ask for a MR, I explained that it was very hard for me to speak on the phone . They where very understanding and said that they would put a note on my case that I'm requesting a RM and to send a letter in why I disagree with the decision.
In the letter I gave a brief explanation why and then I used bullet points with each statement and a explanation why I agreed or disagreed
Sent it recorded delivery today is there anything else I need to do besides wait for their decision?
Many thanks for the information and support without it I would of just excepted the decision.

MRs usually take 4-5 weeks, if you are happy that you have adequately explained why you should receive a higher award then there is nothing else you can do but wait for the result.

Heard from the MR and good and bad news I got the enhanced rate for care but still didn't get the low rate mobility which I was previously awarded in DLA . I don't leave my house unless someone is with because I have high anxiety which can give me full blown panic attacks. Which I have left my personal belongings in the need to get home .
I have come to the decision that I'm no going to appeal as it's to much stress for me to go though, and it's affecting my mental health in such away it's making it worse.
On a different note I've got to appeal to get my SD premium having it turned down because I've got to give my daughters proof of address , she's lives in a house share with her university friends and proof she's in university.
If they'd told me I had to send that proof in , I would of with the MR .
But they didn't did they and given me more stress and my mental health is suffering yet again .
I want to say a big thank you to all who have helped me without you I would of accepted the first decision.
Thank you Thank you Thank you

Hi Helen,

Thanks for letting us know what you have decided. I do hope you will be able to put this behind you and forget about DWP for a while now.
