DLA to PIP was created by Ali
Hi
I had a stroke in 2001 and left aphasia, sorry for my grammar.
I been on DLA from 2007, so a letter from DWP about moving to PIP. I've ask for a new application, I filled (with help) the form before Christmas. Crossed our fingers.
Then a week before a letter said I didn't go to the assessment on 19th January!!! I was mortified, no letter, no text or no email???
My friend rang and told them about the issue, I filled the form about my assessment.
Then today a letter "finished with DLA & don't qualify for PIP because didn't go to the assessment, not a good reason!!!
What do I do for the next steps???

If a Decision has been made to close your claim then you have two options.

Request a Mandatory Reconsideration of the Decision, or

Make a new claim for PIP.

If your go for the MR then you should make a Subject Access Request to the Assessment Provider for your area (ATOS or Capita) for a copy of the appointment letter, the address that it was sent to and proof of posting. See

www.gov.uk/government/publications/pip-postcode-map-uk

SAR :

www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/request-for-personal-information.rtf

From this page :

www.dwp.gov.uk/privacy-policy/data-protection/

You should also check with your local Royal Mail office for any problems with deliveries in your area,

You looking to show that the appointment letter was not sent, was incorrectly addressed or that it was not delivered by Royal Mail.

The DWP take the view that a letter sent is always received, so you need to show that this was not the case.

The PIP Appeal guide explains the MR process and the PIP section has letters that you can use to make the request,

If you have more questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Thanks Gordon, very quick reply.
I'm being thick but they said
"If you think Personal Independence Payment decision is wrong, please tell us why and we'll look at it again. We may be able to change the decision, if we can't we'll tell you why"
1. You said i should ask MR, how? Is it on the phone or ask another form.
2. Ask a new claim, I think they had all the information, it was me didn't show myself face to face on the date because I didn't know the appointment.
So I'm asking for MR?
Thanks

We recommend making MR requests in writing. See the PIP Appeal guide for more information.

Hi
I'm did reconsidered but wouldn't budge. They said blah blah but you didn't consider with anything change.
So it's:
You give up
You appeal
You reapply
As i said the letter i didn't to face to face because it didn't know??
Is it start a new a claim or they now already?
Please need to for the future.
Thanks
