Contributary ESA

I'm in ESA support group and did not have a medical. The award started at the end of Jan 2015. The assessors report said " work unlikely in the longer term". I can't use the phone so my sister rang DWP and was told the review date is 2018.
I have heard from other forums that those with the more severe conditions get reviewed internally by a decision maker after 5 yrs.
Do you know anything about this?

Under normal circumstances, the longest Support Group period before reassessment is 3 years. However, things got very backlogged a couple of years ago and many reassessments were postponed for up to 2 years.

In addition to this, some people have had their file scrutinised and their award extended without being aware of the process. We have no idea how often this happens or what conditions might be included.

The only way you can know for sure when to expect reassessment is to phone DWP and ask!

This happened to my husband who was due for ESA reassessment last July.
As we had not heard anything, I called DWP and was told he would be reassessed in July 2018 and was still in the S/G. We had not even been informed!!!!
He is still receiving esa payments.

He has head injury and lots of physical and mental problems associated with this and 2 heart attacks.
