Sorry I should've explained this better.

When I was last assessed for pip two years ago my walking really wasn't that bad at all and I managed ok. I wasn't awarded any points for walking and I thought that was fair...I only received 4 points as I'm not able to leave the house without my partner.

Since then I've slowly gotten worse and was only recently diagnosed with MS.

When I received my pip review form( in December) I explained my problems with walking as best I could , but in the last couple of months I've improved a little...improved to the point i explained in my previous post..but still much worse than when I was last assessed two years ago.

I also don't know if I should now score 10 points for not being able to go out without my partner..instead of the 4 for prompting? Didn't the rules change about this?

PIP mobility is about how you can walk outside, not indoors. I wouldn't be in a great hurry to declare this significant improvement in how far you can walk. It may be a temporary improvement.

There is caselaw about walking through pain, needing assistance and being able to walk safely, reliably, in a reasonable time scale, repeatedly and without detriment.

This website provides valuable information and caselaw examples for many of the PIP descriptors.

Good luck

Again trying to clarify. When you last made a claim did you have a mobility problem?. Has something happened since your last claim which means the distance that you can walk has become an issue? I am glad that your walking has got better but if walking wasn't an issue last time you were assessed and it is now, then the improvement is only on a deterioration that has happened since which the DWP are unaware of...
what distance can you safely, reliably, repeatedly and on the majority of days walk ?

So, if on four days of the week you can walk 200m with the help of your husband but you have to rest to do so, that would suggest that that would not be repeatable or reliable.
If on four days of the week you can walk more than 50m but less than 200m with assistance, can you do that repeatedly and safely ? if so that would be four points.
if however on four days of the week you can only manage to walk no more then 50m and can do so without resting , unaided and can repeat this as often as necessary you would score the required 8 points.
If you can walk up to 50m but can only do this repeatedly, as often as necessary, with but needing to rest and or using your stick or husband then 10 points would be the likely award
I hope this helps

So to confirm.

You were previously assessed and received no points for the Moving Around Activity, your walking deteriorated and you have completed a new form with details of this, but since doing this your walking has improved and you can now walk 200m on the majority of days albeit with the use of a stick or with assistance from a partner and on occasion, farther than 200m.

As I mentioned before you are assessing yourself as scoring zero points or at best 4 points, although I think the latter is unlikely.

What did you score yourself on the form that you recently completed?

Yes, that's what I was trying to say.

I've been able to walk 200m with my stick and partner for support, some of those times I've had to stop and rest and sometimes not ..sometimes I've been able to walk a little further but I've needed to stop and rest.

Most days I'm struggling to get around my house and garden and I need to keep sitting down to rest...this is mostly due to balance ,dizziness and fatigue issues..although I now don't need my stick or partners help indoors or in my garden.( which is how I've improved a little)

As I'm rarely able to leave the house due to anxiety..I left my home only 3 times this month..I don't really know for sure how far I can manage to walk with my partners support on the majority of days.

I know I can manage 20m unaided most days
I don't know if I could manage 200m on the majority of days..i don't believe I could but this is based purely on how I am indoors on the day and I can't say for sure.
I'm struggling to know what to say as I don't know for sure how far I can walk on the majority of days.
To complicate matters, this is how I'm walking now that the weather is cold..in warm weather I'm usually much worse as any kind of warmth badly affects my walking...I don't know if that makes any difference to how the dwp assess me?

I put " it varies" on the form and explained as best I could (basically what I've put on this post)

David

I am sorry but I cannot allow your post as the information it contains is inaccurate, you have misread the Descriptors that you are quoting.
