Wobbly legs wrote: Hi again, have submitted MR for failed PIP (7 points DL, 4 points mobility). No decision yet but not hopeful at this stage, maybe appeal will be more advantageous. However, please can you throw any light on another problem. Grandaughter was placed in SG from WRAG ater MR but today have received appointment to attend WRA at JC in two weeks. Has she been put back in WRAG because of refused PIP? Cannot understand what is happening, feel dizzy going round in circles. Thank you for reading.

Hi Gordon,

Please could you help me understand a telephone call I had last week? My granddaughter was refused PIP in February 2017, so eight weeks ago I sent a letter on her behalf requesting Mandatory Consideration. Two weeks ago my granddaughters G.P. contacted me to say she had received, completed and returned a form regarding PIP, , also ATOS have contacted other names I gave on the PIP2 form so at least I knew the MR was receiving some attention.

The telephone call I had was from a chap who said he was from ATOS. the number was a local landline number. He asked a couple of questions regarding who helps my granddaughter with finances etc. And that was it. But I could not understand why it would be ATOS who were enquiring and not DWP. Is this what sometimes happens? or are they about to "offer" a second assessment.

Thank you for reading.

The DWP have no in-house medical knowledge, my best guess is that your request for an MR has prompted them to pass your grand daughters file back to ATOS and they have asked them to seek further evidence, hence the contact with the GP, etc.

I think the call was a follow-up to the new evidence.

I'm afraid you will have to wait and see whether this results in a new Decision, but it looks hopeful.
