Accessing Motability with standard PIP

I am curious to know if there have been any developments from the DWP regarding this issue from the 7th of December:
“Allow claimants to access the Motability scheme even if they are not in receipt of the enhanced rate of the mobility component of PIP.”
I have yet to receive my PIP invitation (I have had MS for 17 years) and have had higher rate DLA since 2003.
However I am reconciled to getting a standard mobility PIP when I am transferred.
I am able to make up the shortfall between standard and enhanced PIP though.
As such I am very interested to know if there is any more news about this, anytime this year would be good for me.
Regards
John

There has been no news and in fact Motability have denied any knowledge of any proposed changes.
I wouldn't hold your breath on this one.

Her reply was to that NO you must get the top rate on Pip for mot to get/keep the car.So it does not mean if you had all the money in China to make up a payment each month, they (motability) still take the car back they also offer the car for sale to you..Sad days for alot of people, sorry but that is the case so far.I do hope it changes, but I would doubt it to be honest.

I am still going to pursue this, some years back I addressed a PIP query to my local MP and had a response back from Maria Miller (then disabilities minister).
My thinking is that there must have been some thought processes going on in the mind of Penny Mordaunt when she announced the Motabiiity changes in December last.
Any information I get back I will share on this forum.

I think the fundamental problem is that it wasn't an announcement, is was an off the cuff remark made when answering a question about ESA!.
