EDP & SDP income related was created by David
Hi Gordon
A little bit confused over EDP and SDP entitlement
I receive ESA(CB)
I have council tax support award which quote both of these premiums which I don't receive.
When I enter details into on line calculator these two premiums crop up again as ESA (IR) payments
As I don't currently receive ESA (IR) top up, can I claim these premiums as ESA (IR) top up.
It is very confusing that the council cite the ammount the government say I need to live on includes these premiums, which is considerably more than I currently receive.
I hope you can enlighten me
Thanks

You will first need to show that you are eligible to receive Income Related ESA. ESA(IR) is dependant on your household income, your savings and assets, and any hours that your partner works. See
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
Then you will need to be eligible for the Premiums.
EDP requires you to be in the Support Group or to be receiving DLA HRC or PIP Enhanced DL.
The SD Premium requires you to be receiving DLA MRC or HRC or PIP DL AND you live alone or are considered to be living alone AND no one receives Carers Allowance for you.
Request an ESA 3 for assessment to receive the ESA(IR) top-up and an IS10 form for the SDP.

Both my wife and myself are in support group for ESA
we have no savings
I have a small pension Less than £40 pw
We both receive PIP standard care, enhanced mobility
we have no other income
do I need to request IS10 separately to ESA3
thanks

In principle you should be able to receive
2 x EDP
2 x SDP
1 x Carers Premium if one of you is able to care for the other
request the IS10 at the same time as the ESA3.
