Call From Capita - Beware Change of F2F Time was created by Sheila 966
Hi,
Just an observation about last minute changes to appointments times:
I have just had a call from a gentleman at Capita (Robert - I asked, the information wasn't offered!), informing me that my Daughters appointment time was being changed, from 14:30 to 14:15. This was due to a couple of urgent cases they needed to see tomorrow afternoon (9th March).
I was not offered the chance to re book - let's face it, it's 15 minutes! I said no problem.
An hour later I got to thinking, my first thoughts were that they must work late into the evening - My daughters appointment should go on for a while. ADHD, Dyspraxia & Expressive & Receptive Language difficulties, should throw up a good amount of 'assessing' and they had at least two more appointments after that!.
My second thought was concern, are they going to rush my daughters appointment?
And lastly - what an idiot! we are lucky, I drive, anyone that was reliant on public transport would have been greatly inconvenienced by this change;
The assessment centre is 12 miles away, we have 2 bus's a day that will get us there - the first journey (x2 changes) has us arriving 2 hours and 45 minutes early and the second (again 2 x changes), arriving 25 minutes late!
Capita state on their site that they provide travel plans to their appointment centres - we just received a travel expenses claim form, no public transport advice at all?
I am more than a little disgusted with myself for not pointing this out to Robert! You see, despite having a 25 year old daughter with 'needs' I am, to my shame, still shortsighted when it comes to the needs of others.
I have posted this in consideration for anyone reliant on public transport that might take a last minute phone call, as I did this morning.
I hope this helps
Sheila

I do not think of it like that
The Assessment Centre did not pay, tax payers pay, therefore I used my car and will not be claiming expenses
I am no longer a tax payer, I have worked extremely hard all of my life and am now in the fortunate position where I have been able to take early retirement - My husband continues to work.
My daughter works too, despite her conditions.
Therefore you will forgive me for my reaction to your reply, I would never take advantage of a system, however bad I consider it to be, It is still the only thing in place right now and I for one am grateful that my daughter has some chance of supplementing her minimum wage, 29 hour week. A job she can only hold down if I drive her to work (a 9 mile round trip) No public transport - even if she were able to use it!
