Hello
I'm just making an enquiry on behalf of my brother-in-law, who was diagnosed some years ago with narrowing of the spine (spinal stenosis if I'm correct). He was severely disabled at the time, although he has made a good recovery.
This is just a very general invitation for anyone with knowledge or experience of this condition to advise me how it might be regarded if he claimed PIP.
I would support him with this if there were any likelihood of a claim being successful.

It's not the condition that determines whether a claimant can be awarded PIP but the limitations that result from them.
There are ten Daily Living activities and two Mobility ones, your BIL needs to do these reliably and on the majority of days not to score points.
I would have a look at the PIP Claim guide to see what the requirements are for these activities and whether he meets these.

Hi, just read your post. My husband had an indefinite award on DLA for spinal stenosis, that was 20 years. He was reassessed a few months ago. He converted to PIP enhanced rates for both.
He is much worse than he was but his initial problem is still the same.
