Assessor didn't ask whether my illness fluctuates

I had my PIP assessment yesterday. I'm enjoying a 'good spell' at the moment. But my claim form repeatedly states that more than 50% of the time I'm experiencing a relapse, when my symptoms are far worse. My GP's letter, which the assessor read, also mentions relapses. But the assessor only asked how I am at the moment. We didn't once talk about how I am at my worst. There was no mention of relapses or fluctuation orvariability of my condition. Was this a mistake on the part of the assessor? I'm very concerned that the decision will be based solely on my 'good' spells. Should I write to the DWP and explain all this?

(My sister has helped me write this post. She was unable to accompany me yesterday. If she had she would have brought up the relapses. I did not, because even when I'm at my best my concentration and memory are very poor.)

I'm afraid you can't make any assumptions about whether the assessor collected sufficient information to make a recommendation to the DWP or not. Although they tend to follow a standard script and the software that they use to create the report operates in a particular order they are still not completely restricted as to how they question the claimant. Many areas are in fact considered through observation of the claimant as they walked from reception to the room and as they answered the questions during the assessment.

PIP Decisions are currently taking 2-4 weeks. You should be able to request copy of the assessment report next week by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

Thanks Gordon. The assessor said the decision would take 6 to 8 weeks.
