Esa50 PDF form problems was created by Bekki2014
i got my esa50 form to renew this week. I've less than a week to return it (I live rurally so post can take over a week to arrive first class, two second class which is what has happened if the dates in the letter are right). The letter is really upsetting going on about how everyone should work, I can't. There are no welfare services left where I live. I cannot get any medical evidence as I can't attend medical appointments.

I've been forced to download the online form as I cannot manage to write in block caps and put my details in the small spaces on the form. However, it keeps shutting down and deleting what I've put on the form. The boxes are tiny and the form won't allow text size to be changed. So there's only room for about four lines. That's nowhere near enough for me to explain. Added to this my post office was closed so I'll need to travel on Monday and send the form special delivery which will cost me a fortune due to all the extra information I'm being forced to put on other pages.

My problem is though the PDF not accepting information. I've no help at all thus is the only way I can do the form, it's going to be dreadfully rushed as well - our medical center (only one in my county) is being closed as well and I cannot get to the nearest which I've been told won't allow people to attend with any recording devices - they take mobiles away/water/food yet people are recorded on CCTV. There's no way I can cope with that. I live in an area where appeals are done in court and you're made to feel like a criminal (thie is why I only get ESA as I couldn't cope with going to court to appeal the other disability benefit).

If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it. I'm really sorry if any of this is elsewhere on the site. I see got the guides but don't have time to read them before it's due back.

Type your answers in a suitable word processor and attach them as extra pages to the ESA50 that you have been sent, just make sure that each page has your full name and NIN at the top and that they are numbered, we recommend "page X of Y" so that it is easy to see if pages are missing. Make sure you clearly mark on the form where your answers are and on the relevant page that you are answering question X.

Attach the pages to the back of the ESA50 using a staple or make a hole in the top left corner and use a treasury tag, string or ribbon to the form. The pages need to be easily detached so that they can be scanned by the DWP.

I'll try that. Thanks.

Do you know the penalty for late returning of the form? I've just found out the nearest post office isn't open on Monday and I cannot get to another to send it back.

It's costing me a fortune as I don't have a printer either so must send the document to be printed before posting.

ESA doesn't allow for any extension of the time to return the ESA50 and returning it late can lead to other problems.

If you are going to be late then the key thing is to make sure that the DWP receive the form and that you have proof of delivery, this will I'm afraid, necessitate you going to a Post Office, however, doing this will also give you extra options for getting the form there quicker providing you can afford it.

There is a section on page 2 of the form that covers it's late return.

You must manage this situation, so you need to contact the DWP on the day that your ESA50 is due to be delivered and continue to chase them until they acknowledge receipt.

Providing your form is received by the DWP within a reasonable time of the required date it should not affect your claim.

I can't let them know as I cannot use a telephone (disability related). I'm going to need to send it special delivery anyway otherwise it will end up taking over a week to get there anyway.

It must be there Tuesday and there's no post office open around here at weekends - the nearest is too far for me to be able to get to.

Thankyou for your help.

Could a relative, friend, neighbour help?
