You have been awarded one thing but they are imposing another. I would definitely appeal, absolute travesty!

Hi Everyone,

Just want to give you an update. We have decided to appeal. I left it really late but sent the form by recorded delivery and it got there with a day to spare. We have received a letter from the DWP saying they will look at the decision again and if they don't find in our favour, it will go to appeal.

It recently struck me that in little over a year, we have had three decisions:-

1. Given 9 points
2. Given 30 points and into Support Group.
3. Put in Work Related Activity Group.

When we got the latest decision, there was no information on the number of points granted. There wasn't even an address given on where to send our appeal letter.

I doubt if anything very much will happen until after Christmas and I have decided anyway not to worry about it.

Regards
m'star :)

How come you were in the support group and now the WRAG inside a year ? Is yours a condition that improved ?

It seems a bit much to have had 3 decisions Thats so disruptive

I have not got the foggiest idea why. I regard myself as a fairly intelligent person but I sometimes feel as if my brain is turning into mush with all the blooming abbreviations and trying to understand what it is all about. I did involve my MP and I did get a letter from someone acting on behalf of the CEO of Job Centre Plus - perhaps that affected their decision. From what you wrote, is it unusual for what happened to happen or is it not meant to be allowed?

My son's condition has not improved - an autistic spectrum disorder does not suddenly get better. It is a long process helping someone deal with their difficulties and often it can be taking "one step forward and two or three steps back."

At the end of the day, with a condition like Asperger's Syndrome, I think it is usually down to the examiner's interpretations and whether or not they have any understanding of the condition. Mind you, that is true for all disabilities really. The most frustrating thing about my son's condition is that because it is a hidden disability, people find it hard to believe there is a problem or perhaps I should say problems. Of course we all know that the computer programme used in these assessments is just a nonsense!!

It's my understanding that ATOS/Unum are employed specifically to get people kicked off benefits so you can't expect them to behave in any other way. We should be surprised when this sort of thing DOESN'T happen, not when it does. I've just been Googling for Unum scandal - eye-opening stuff. I feel I'm observing these social travesties from a more informed perspective now.
