It's ok bluejay52.

My daughter is a Pharmacist.

Where you have a repeat prescription you get it for a certain amount of scripts. Say for instance 10. If you look on the script itself it says you have so many items left for each one and the GP checks every so often. Just to make sure you still need them and you are taking them regularly.

This is being phased over to Pharmacists now instead, along with other minor medication things you would normally go to the GP for.

So don't worry about it, it is linked to the GPs practice therefore it is no different to what it was under the GP.

If the Pharmacist thinks there may be a problem or that another type of medication might help you more or if you are having side effects then they will refer you to the GP.

In fact it might be a better system, because the Pharmacist knows more about drugs and medication than the GP.

If the DWP don't take any notice of any evidence your GP gives on your behalf I don't think you need to worry too much about this.

Hope it eases you mind.

Hi Bluejay

Please dont worry bout this as far as i can see this is to your benefit, the pharmasists have a lot of knowledge regarding side effects etc of these drugs. I had something similar about 6 months ago and the pharmasist picked up on the fact that i was on double the maximum dose of 1 drug in particular!!!! Scarey but it does happen!!! Are you on a lot of medication? I have to put in a monthly order for 35 items which have been prescribed by my GP and the hospital so the mistake that was made could easily happen. I am extremly grateful to the pharmasist for picking this up and i am now on a programme to gradually reduce the drug and get me onto a normal dose tho i know this is going to take time. Hope this is of some help!!!

Kind regards
Julie

both your GP and chemist have a duty of care to check your drugs with regards checking up on what you take the DWP can write anytime they want and ask your GP what you take

the chemist should be seen as a safety check they often spot drug errors by GP where yoy are taking a drug and another given for a new problem is not safe to take with your normal drugs
