Requesting a Statement of Reasons will not result in the Decision being revised and may not even result in a reply, in all the time I have been Moderating I can count on one hand the times that such a request has resulted in a SoR being produced.

You have two options, ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration not to re-assess your son or submit a new request, in both cases you should be able to submit the letters that you have just received.

Sorry! trying to eat and type.

Ask for an MR in regard the Decision to re-assess your son

or

Submit a new request for him to be re-assessed for the SG.

RE my last instructions -no response has been received although everything was sent recorded delivery.
In fact things are much worse as in October our son was again sanctioned for over two weeks due to him going over his work period of 1 year for permitted work. He was doing some telephone bookings for his employer and had not realised he was in excess of his permitted time and instead of just advising him and taking his earnings which would have been acceptable to him he was sanctioned .They also wrote to the housing benefits saying his esa was stopped which was interpreted by the HB officers as meaning he was now in full time employment ,so he was caused undue stress because he feared losing his house. and we had to pay his rent He had gone in to see them at hb but his state of health was at breaking point and there was trouble in the office when he took photos of them sitting ignoring him.. They tried to take his phone and he was forced down and armlocks were placed on him by security staff who then sat on him although they were told by him that this would cause him to fit . He was eventually released when the police were called in. This resulted in a breakdown and threatening suicide. We persuaded him to go and seek help at the hospital and he was immediately placed on antidepressants (After reference to his epilepsy specialist.)
He is still very delicate and severely depressed and is unable to deal with any of these matters. or even speak about them without ending up in tears and very upset. He is unable to take action against the staff who did this to him as he is unsure of his own actions at the time.
We have recently contacted his MP to investigate his housing benefit being recovered but when we got in touch with dwp they said the repayment of any esa would be referred to a decision maker who has as yet not responded. At the time of his starting work he was in receipt of sever disability payment which was taken away while he was working but he has not got notification that this is being re-instated. How long should these matters take?

Sorry ,this is so long.

I'm afraid there is no required timescale for a Decision Maker to respond within, all you can do is chase the DWP on a regular basis for a response.

As your son's MP is involved they may have more success with the DWP than you will.

Have once again supplied a change of circumstances form to DWP signed by my son 4 weeks ago and have not had any response, .My son is severely depressed and was suicidal before Christmas and is now currently having CBT.
He has also just seen his Neurologist who has told him that the use of medicines will not cure his Epilepsy and that the only alternative will likely be brain surgery. They have recently advised that he will have to have infusions of vit B12 and further tests regarding this. He fits many times a day and has just recently burned his arm when he fell against his oven during a fit. He is always hurting himself at these times and it is not improving in any way.
The DWP have been advised of these changes and asked that they review him for the Support group again. He meets the descriptors as if he did not use his mornings for toilet reasons he would be in the position of soiling himself every day. This is a risk at other times of the day also. Why do this department ignore these matters? We have the help of his MP but still it is a continuous battle.
Any further advice would be welcome.! Thanks in anticipation.
