Depending on how your surgery works, you might have time to access your GP records and copy anything that could be helpful. There will probably be a charge for this.

OK. I telephoned the doctors surgery on Friday and I need to take in a letter requesting information and also a letter for the doctor to write a report. So that is underway.

A far more serious development has occurred re my ESA Appeal. I sent it Special Delivery on Thursday to arrive Friday. They couldn't deliver it as it says on the Royal Mail site there was NO ACCESS to the address.

I do not know what the hell to do?

They may try again or just send it back to me. That's it - scuppered by the Royal Mail now. Missed my deadline because of it. Spend nearly £8.00 I borrowed for it to not get there and I can no longer appeal.

I think that's me done then. Every which way I am doomed to fail. I am very fragile at the moment.

LL

Worse case you can make a Late Appeal citing the problems with the delivery of the original request as reason for it being late.

OK Gordon. Sorry I was a bit emotional earlier.

I have located the telephone number of the Appeal Centre which I will ring tomorrow to clarify matters. I have a copy of the receipt ready to send them and a copy of the screenshot from the Royal Mail showing how it didn't even leave my local handling centre til 1pm on the Friday.

I was in tears and my husband settled me and said I mustn't worry. I have proof to show it was not my fault. The daft thing is when we both started investigating, is that the letter will be held at the Bradford North Postal Delivery Centre which is where the PO Box for the Appeal Centre is!

Sorry, the stress is really getting to me at the moment.

I will be working on the PIP form and hopefully be able to get that in at latest a week before the deadline.

Just an update; appeal letter arrived at the Appeals Centre on Monday. When I spoke to the Appeals Centre they were very understanding and told me they allow a few days for post issues. She also said I had up to a year under late rules. She said IF DWP were to object in any way to me being allowed a late appeal, as long as I had evidence to prove it would have been in on time if the post had delivered it on the right day, any objection could be over turned. I may be logged under Appeal or late Appeal, but I have a chance to explain why if they log it as late.

So now its around 2 weeks before the form is on the system, at which stage I will ask about the basic ESA rate, (don't ask, don't get, worst they can say is no and I am no worse off than I already am!), and then it's just awaiting a hearing date.

Cracking on with my PIP2 now which needs to be there before 20th Jan. I may be asking questions about it as it seems very time consuming to write out.
