Mandatory reconsideration PIP no change was created by Aunts Fluffy
I have just received the response to a mandatory reconsideration for PIP, they have changed nothing, only giving me standard fo r care and nothing for mobility, I was on high rate for mobility and care on DLA
What do I do now?
How affective is an appeal?

Revision rates at MR are very low, possibly below 10% at appeal the rate is in excess of 60%, so it is most certainly worth looking at going to appeal, providing you are able to handle the stress of doing so.

The PIP Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.

Once your appeal is accepted the DWP will prepare their submission to the hearing and send you a copy, whilst you should wait until you receive this to finish and submit your own, you should start to prepare your own case, an increased award will only be made by your showing that you score the extra points for one, so I would start by going back through your PIP2, the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to see how you might show this is the case.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Thanks Gordon, what is the time scale for all this to happen, I know I have to appeal within a month, but not sure after that

Hi AF,

There are still huge variations, at a guess I would say you would be looking at a wait of between 3-6 months.

Thanks for the information.
While I am waiting for my appeal, can I still use my agreement from DLA where I don't pay car road tax, or do I now have to pay car road tax during the appeal time.

You lost your right to the Road Tax discount when the Decision on your PIP claim was made, although it is possible that the DVLA may have allowed you to keep it for the rest of the month, but I can't confirm this.

If you do not have Road Tax on your vehicle then your insurance is almost certainly invalidated!

It's illegal to drive a car or even have it on the road without valid insurance.
