Hi,

For a PIP review if your condition remains the same is it worth referring to HP’s observations from last face to face assessment e.g., reduced power in arms and grip; reduced strength in arms; reduced movements in shoulders; needed prompting to answer questions and had to be supported to answer; poor rapport, eye contact and concentration; difficulty coping at interview and so on?

Likewise, is there any harm in alluding to DWP’s own guidance on the review form e.g., (At any point during the day)? And, is it worth pointing out why you feel you should have scored more points when last assessed if evidence supports your contention or if HP contradicted themselves elsewhere in their report which suggests higher scoring descriptors? Or is this just likely to annoy them?

Many thanks.

I would certainly include information that links this review to the previous assessment, my only concern in referring to their own guidance is to make sure that you fully understand it and the implications, you don't want to refer to it and then find out that you have misunderstood.

Also, make sure that you check the guidance against the actual Descriptors, a good (or bad) example is the use of Public Transport and the Going Out activity, the guidance refers to it and the Descriptor makes no mention of it. We have seen Decision Makers use this as a reason not to award points for the use of Public Transport.
