Inheritance - do I tell DWP? was created by Francis
I am currently in Support Group and in receipt of Contribution based ESA only & will shortly inherit money from my late Mother's will which will take me over £16,000 in savings. I know this does not affect my entitlement to ESA but do I have to tell the DWP? I have recently spoken with them & been informed that my ESA re-assessment which is now due has been deferred to July 2019. I am very nervous that if I tell them about my inheritance they will class it as a change in circumstances & send me another ESA 50 to complete. What is the best thing to do?
Thank you

If you are only receiving ESA(CB) then your savings and assets are not considered in regard your ESA and you do not need to inform them of any changes in these.

The £16,000 limit only applies to ESA(IR).
