Dwp my post office account was created by iccsmate
The dwp keep writing to me to say they want me to stop using my post office account for my benefit payments. They want me to open a different bank account in order i receive benefit payments.

I like using my post office account to get benefits. Why should I change just because they don't like me using the post office. It not compulsory is it that I must chance.. They can't force me to start using another bank for my benefit can They?

Apparently it is extremely expensive to pay benefits into a Post Office account so the DWP have made the Decision that new benefits such as Universal Credit will no longer support payment to these accounts.

Existing benefits should not be affected for the time being, but at some time, if you are receiving any Income Related benefits, you will be moved to UC and you will need to have a suitable account available for payment.

The Post Office, do chequing accounts that will meet the DWP requirements so all you need to do is to switch accounts, rather than having to switch to a different vendor.

I had exactly this too, so I opened a bank account they gave me their bank card and I now use that to get my money out at the PO. The only bugbear is that I sometimes have to go two days to get the full amount as they have a limit amount you can take out in one go. Hope this helps :)
