PIP and ESA

Hi,
Looking for some guidance please.

My mother receives ESA (support group) and has done for about 2/3 years. She also recently won her PIP tribunal and was placed in the enhanced care and mobility groups.

A few days ago she received an ESA form to complete; I assume this is for renewal. My question is that will she need to go through another assessment? The PIP assessment affected her mental health very badly, and I’d hate for her to go through all of that again given she just went through a very similar process for PIP.

The criteria for ESA and PIP are very different, so I'm afraid having being awarded one does not do away with the need for the other to be (re)assessed. If the claimant has included enough information on the ESA50 form, it is possible that an award can be made without a face to face assessment but this is entirely at the discretion of the assessor.
