ESA was created by Tigerlily11
Hi everyone,

I was just looking for a bit of advice. I have just had a large amount of money from ESA deposited into my bank and I am worried I am not entitled to this. It has my NI number but I have not received a letter or anything regarding this. Maybe one will come in a day or two.
I get income related ESA and my husband was added to my claim.
We both get the high rate of PIP daily living and the high rate of mobility.
A disability income guarantee is added to the ESA which is £27.90 and £44.70 because we are both in the Support Group along with the living expenses of £133.30 for me and my husband.
I think we get the severe disability premium because it says on the letter “which gives a total income related amount of £358.70” even though it adds up to £205.90. It does not say we get it or not.
Is there anything this money possibly could be that DWP thought we should be receiving and were not and has been backdated?
If no letter comes I know I will have to ring them which I hate the thought of.

Many thanks for any advice or ideas what this could be.

The only people who can answer your questions are the DWP so give them a call, early in the day if possible.

I could be completely wrong here but it might be two Carer Premium’s that they have awarded even though we didn’t apply for it.

I got a letter from DWP this morning concerning my IRESA.
It says:
Living expenses for you and your partner £117.40
Extra money because you and your partner are severely disabled £134.60
Extra money because you are both Carer’s £75.40
Extra money because of the Disability Income Guarantee £24.60
Extra money because you are in the Support Group £39.40
Which gives a total income related amount £391.40

INCOME AND BENEFITS
PIP Daily Living Component for you is not counted as income towards ESA
PIP Mobility Component for you is not counted as income towards ESA
Carer’s Allowance for your partner £37.70
PIP Daily Living Component for your partner is not counted as income towards ESA
Your total income £37.70
Your Total income related amount is £391.40 less total income of £37.70
So your income related amount is £353.70

My question is We didn’t apply for Carer’s Allowance but it said in the letter above “ Extra money because you and your partner are both Carer’s £75.40” then further down it says in the “Income and Benefits” Carer’s Allowance for your partner £37.70.
Also my husband has been added on to my Legacy ESA, not sure if this has any bearing on it.

I’m so sorry for all the questions but really don’t want to be getting anything I’m not entitled to as it will cause me more bother further down the line which I really don’t need.

Thank you for any advice,

Jessica
