Their asking you questions and you replying to those questions is not the same as you putting words in their mouth :)

Thanks Gordon! That clarifies the situation.

One other question. When I first applied for ESA over a year ago my friend went through the B&W mental health ESA claim guide (Jan 16 v2) with me to prepare for the ESA50 form when it arrived.

It only arrived a week ago and the B&W mental health ESA claim guide has bee updated to Oct 16 v24. Has anything significant changed in the guide since this update because if that's the case I'll need to get help addressing these changes.

The main thing change was a change to the guidance for Substantial Risk. There have been no changes to the Descriptors or Regulations.

In the ESA MH claims guide there is a section called "Showing you may be at risk". It sets out some questions about risk. Is it worth printing out those questions along with my answers to them and include that with the ES50 form? Or should I try to include that information in my answers to the questions on the form?

A lot of the effects of my illness seems to apply to more than one descriptor. Is it better to keep repeating that information where relevant rather than leave it out?

Hi Spectralis,

Is is up to you of course but, in your position, I would try to include the information with the ESA50 (less chance of it 'going astray' or not being read for whatever reason).

Try to treat each question as a separate entity, even if this means repeating yourself.

The question boxes on the ESA50 form are so tiny that to answer them fully I need to include extra sheets of paper with the form. I assume this is acceptable?

But I also wondered if I should include a page devoted to the 'at risk' questions in the B&W ESA50 mental health guide?
