Don't be surprised at this, the DWP staff are not medically trained and tend to be formulaic in their approach to looking at claims, trying to pigeon hole claimants into recognisable boxes that they can make a standard Decision on.
An appeal Tribunal will have open minds to the evidence that you present to them.
