Recording PIP assesment -URGENT! was created by Shelly
Im having a home assesment and phoned to inform them wed be recording it on a dictaphone and then make 2 CDs from that - but they say they have to be recorded on CD simultaneously or cassette tape! Is this legal? i mean who uses cassettes or happens to have 2 cd recorders lying around?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

It's not really a question of legality, claimants have no legal right to require their assessment is recorded, it's an accommodation by the DWP and they get to set the rules for recording. If you don't comply then the assessment will not be done and your will be classed as failing to participate.

Yes although there may be restrictions on your using the recording. Be aware that if found to be doing this then the assessment can be curtailed and you can be classed as failing to participate.

but for personal use and to ensure that an assessor does not fabricate the report and that one has an accurate and truthful report for responding to a dishonest report this would be very useful?

It's perfectly legal to make a covert recording for personal use.
