The only contact I have received since submitting my form is a letter from capita telling me they have received my form - not sure why its taken so long. I have been unable to be on the forum because I have been so ill, even admitted to a&e last week. My happy news is my first grandchild was born on 22 nov. Baby Isabelle is gorgeous and gives me a reason to carry on. The forum is invaluable and I dont know how I would cope without you. Reading posts of other members makes me see I am not alone. Merry Christmas to everyone. Jojo x

Hi jojo,

I'm sorry that you have been so poorly - and that your PIP claim is taking so long :(

Congratulations on the birth of your grand-daughter, I'm sure she will bring you much joy :)

Merry Christmas to you too.

Replied by jojo on topic pip assessment date received
After 4 months of waiting I have received an appointment for a PIP assessment at home. I cannot understand why after ESA accepted my information, which I supplied with PIP form, hospital letters and GP letter being provided that confirm my statements, I now have to undergo this at home assessment. I am deeply worried, which in view of my declining health is not doing me any good. In December I was admitted to A&E with rapid heart rate and very high blood pressure. My fifth medication for this has failed to control it; I have also endures significant side effects. Do I contact DWP and update them of these health problems or is it too late now I have this assessment date. I have seen a cardiologist and am awaiting a further appointment with him, and am awaiting further testing at Glenfields Hospital in Leicester. I feel everything to do with DWP is out of control, with my GP concerned about my well being.
I have tried to stay positive but find I feel totally hopeless and useless. Any advice will be appreciated and I am trying to read your guides, though with regular periods of loss of vision being a new addition to add to my woes. Thank you for letting me get this off my chest jojo x

PIP has different assessment criteria from ESA, it's likely that the Assessment Provider is unable to make a recommendation on your claim without seeing you.

If your conditions have changed since you completed the PIP2 then you should notify the AP and the DWP, you can do this at any time up to when a Decision is made on your claim. Have a copy of the changes available for your assessment, give them to the assessor when they arrive and ask them to read them and include them in your file before they start the interview.

Good luck

Gordon

This may sound lame but is AP the assessment company capita? I am at london hospital next week so will wait to see what they say before contacting DWP to update them as I will ask for a report from the Neurologist. Its such a hard slog and appreciate the need to ensure claimants are genuine but it seems totally unfair that with my current DLA award and more recent ESA award, plus medical evidence stating my conditions are permanent that we have to be submitted to such an ordeal. thank you Benefits and Work, I don't know how I would cope without you. jojo

Replied by jojo on topic recording pip assessment
Is it acceptable to record either video or voice only PIP face to face assessment. Is there any criteria that has to be met to be able to do this. My previous experience is the reason I am considering this route. Any info will be much appreciated. jojo
