Received PA4 today . It came within a week of asking for it.

Its quite accurate but a few things are wrong. I will be contacting them about this .

My question is , If it is known , The assessor has ticked the boxes in the Activity Descriptor part , would the DM generally agree with her or is it likely to change?

If I add up the ticks , I should get some PIP m which is a relief but don't want to take anything for granted.

Hi Rambling Ted

You have a very small window of time to write to the Decision-Maker - pointing out any discrepancies in the report. Only concentrate on the areas that would impact on the points awarded.

On the whole, the decision-maker normally follows what the assessor has said (but not always).

I sent the letter the next day . I would say the assessment was reasonably fair but for a few points.

Regarding mobility , she put that as I hadn't been referred to a pain clinic then I can mobilise further than I said which seems unfair to me.

I expected to get points for helping with dressing upper body . She wrote I had difficulty with upper dressing yet " it would be expected that aids in the form of adapted clothing could allow her to manage this activity . "

I would love to know what the specially adapted clothes are ! She gave me a tick in the Needs help to dress her lower body instead.

It doesnt make sense to me ,

Hi Rambling Ted,
Two points to mention.
1. Highest points value should be awarded. Upper body dressing is more points than lower.
2. You have a right to pursue a 'normal life' as far as your disabilities will allow. You shouldn't be excluded from points because eg you wear pull on clothes or velcro shoes, because buckles and buttons etc are too difficult. If you are into lovely flower patterned shirts with loads of buttons, you shouldn't be precluded points because the assessor believes you should wear a baggy old top, which won't require help with buttons. This is caselaw, and often forgotten by DWP!

Thanks for your reply. I received a letter today from the DWP saying " We now have all the information we need to decide if we can award you PIP "dated 1st April which is the day I posted my letter to the DM.

I guess its wait and see now. !
