Housing Benefit transfer to UC was created by OUTLANDER
Hi everyone,
I am currently on legacy benefit ESA Contribution based support group also PIP and receive some help towards my rent with HB.
I am moving home to another property within my council area.
I have contacted Citizens Advice and they weren't able to clarify if I will have to move to UC if I have a change of address within my council area. On certain websites such as Entitled. it states " a change of address within your council area does not require a move to UC".
I would appreciate some clarity if anyone can clear the mud away.

The website Entitleto is correct, at this moment in time if you move within the same local authority then it is just a change of circumstances and you should stay on legacy benefits.
Once you move to UC you cannot go back on to legacy benefits.
The DWP are starting to move claimants from legacy benefits over to UC, my understanding is that Tax Credit claimants will move first but I have not had any confirmation as to when this will start.
I would imagine it will be announced in our news letter once we have confirmation.

Hi Outlander,
I moved within my borough a couple of years ago and reported the change of circumstance in the form of a change of address. Nothing else changed i.e. savings, income etc.
I kept my entitlement to legacy benefits and will be moved to UC when I'm forced onto it once they've moved those on Tax Credits.
