[ have read numerous posts and advice forums regarding notifying dwp of a change of circumstances regarding my mobility. I had an accident in 2011 which caused me to retire early. I claimed for dla and received standard living allowance, after a few months I notified dwp of further changes and then received lower dla for care and higher dla for mobility. When reassessed for PIP I lost my car and only received lower for both components for ten years. Now four years into my aware my mobility is seriously hampering my moving around. I want to notify dwp of my change in mobility which is down to my accident in 2011 and should therefore not be hindered by the rules that state those over pension age on lower mobility cannot apply for higher mobility. Any thought could be hslpful. Mikd.
Hi Mike1950, The law is very clear- mobility wmawards for DLA or PIP can not be increased after state pension age. If you are retired from work but not yet able to receive state pension, as you are not old enough, then you can ask DWP to review your mobility award. If you are receiving state pension then I am terribly sorry, but you will not get any upgrade on whatever mobility award you currently get. This law has been in existence for many years if not decades, it is nothing new. I apologise if this answer is not going to help your situation. LL26
