pip review was created by robert1111
hi there,i have my pip assessment over the phone on the 9th of this month. Does anyone have any suggestions that may help me? as i feel really nervous about it. In 2018 i applied for pip and was given 0 points for everything. some of the feedback was because i was dressed smartly and that my evidence was all historically. I then applied again in the first lockdown and was then given 11 points for daily living and 4 points for mobility. absolutely nothing had changed with me nor was my evidence any different. I was just pleased to get something but a professional that helps me , said she couldn't believe why 2 assessors could get such a difference in scoring me. She also told me that pip had got so many cases wrong and that they were having a leap review and she was confident that i would of been one of those cases but i heard nothing so i contacted pip but the 13 month benchmark had passed but they sent me the how does your disability affect you form out so i filled it out but this time with present evidence. I suffer from PTSD , Depression, Anxiety and emotional personality disorder. The proffesional that helps me strongly believes that i should be on high rate for at least one of parts of pip. any suggestions or advice would be great on how to give myself the best chance on the phone assessment?

kind regards
robert

Hi Robert1111

You are not alone in getting entirely different feedback from two different assessors when the evidence presented is the same. Assessors are only offering an opinion and that means it can vary quite drastically. I'm not saying it's right but giving the reason why it sometimes happens.

In order to prepare for the assessment, you should have a read of the guidance on telephone assessments. (Starts on page 109) There is a section on potential technical difficulties - which you hope won't occur, but it is as well to be prepared. Then you want to move on (past the face-to-face information) to the information about the questions you might be asked.
Be aware that many people will find the assessor throwing in a question that you might not be expecting and may not appear relevant. Take your time and don't be pressed into giving a quick answer. benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip#claims

I hope that it goes well for you.
