PIP award review forms going astray was created by Sandra Davies
Anyone else had two PIP forms go AWOL?
My PIP award is until June 2023 but at the end of July, I got a review form to fill in, which I duly did.
On 17th Aug, I got a letter from DWP to remind me they needed the form. I rang them and said it was posted previous week. The DWP agent said 'we'll extend the date by two weeks to give it time to arrive, what with the postal strikes etc'
I heard nothing else so assumed all ok. Silly me. On 7th Sept, I got a letter saying 'we have decided to stop your PIP as you have not returned the form'. No more PIP payments and Motability car to go back. Instant panic. I rang them (took 1hr, 20mins to get through) and got passed onto someone else (another 40 mins waiting) who spoke to a decision maker, who agreed to reopen my claim. They sent out a new form, which I completed and posted on 16th Sept, 1st class, signed for. As of today, that one hasn't been delivered either. I rang them again (another 2 hours, with the phone cutting off halfway through the wait so I had to start again!) and finally got through to a helpful lass named Rachel. I told her my claim had been reinstated but I hadn't had my Sept PIP payment. She said 'no, that won't happen until we've received your form'. I tearfully told her I felt like I was drowning in stress. I said 'I told them I'd posted the first form. They knew it was out there somewhere yet still sent a letter basically saying 'as you couldn't be bothered to send the form, we're stopping your PIP'. She was very sympathetic and calmed me down. Went off to speak to someone else and came back and said 'we're putting a temporary 3 month extension on your PIP award so you will start getting payments while we sort this.' Asked me to chase up the missing second form with Royal Mail, via the tracking number. RM won't do anything until it's 10 working days overdue.... I feel like I'm going round in circles.

Hi Sandra
I'm sorry this has happened to you. I would like to say you are the only one - but others have had forms disappear. I know it won't feel like it now - with all the stress, but you have been lucky that they re-opened your claim. This has not happened to everyone. Some have had to start from the beginning and make a new claim. You have time to tackle the post office - but I hope that you have copies of all you sent as you may have to send them again.

Hi I'm in a similar position. I sent my form back in time for them to receive for the 2 week extension I was given. I have just received a letter today to say they didn't receive my review form on time and have ended my claim. I really don't know what to do. I have taken a copy of the review form and will get in touch with them on Monday. Should I write to them or ring them and wait endlessly in the que? I'm thinking it might be better in writing. It says I can ask for a mandatory reconsideration. Is this what you had to do Sandra? So stressful

Hi All12345
Always phone first if you can and then follow up on what was said in writing. Your call will always be logged on the system. A letter can go astray as you know.

I know it's unfair All12345, what isn't about dealing with DWP?
But this is why it is worth scraping together at least the £2 or so to send forms signed for. I have not used their envelopes for a long time. But if you take the unused DWP envelope to the post office they will actually accept it in part payment and only charge you the difference, another tip from a lovely person on this forum which I followed last time.
Check on the 'post office track my item' webpage and print the confirmation.
Then you can prove it is not lost in the post but lost in their system and they cannot, in effect, sanction you for their muddled state.
Hope you get this sorted,
Denby
