Requesting Review of IAS Assessment Method was created by JoHouse
Can anyone tell me where the information that informs a claimant they can request a pause in assessment process and ask for a different method of assessment is located …other than gaining accessing to it through a site like B&W?
I was unaware this was possible until joining B&W yesterday(15/01/23) and reading the PIP Guidance …so I drafted a letter referencing coroners report in Phillipa Day ruling, asking for a change of method of assessment.
Posted it today (16/1/23) and paid for guaranteed next day delivery. In addition, called IAS Customer Service team and asked for a note be put on my file to indicate I was requesting a review, explaining I had not been aware of this option otherwise I would have acted sooner … Video Call booked for Wed 18th Jan 23. I was advised that I was too late making my request for a review and that I would have to attend the video call regardless of the distress this would cause me. I’ve read both the DWP & ATOS responses to coroner and both outline this new procedure … but don’t mention how a customer will be made aware of it. It was not contained in the 5 pages of info sent with the invitation to the video call either. My understanding is that there is no cut off date for making a request and although I appreciate the request is very late, I will have done everything possible to make IAS aware of it, in the 48 hrs before the call is scheduled. I will also be calling DWP tomorrow to make them aware of the situation.
Thoughts Welcomed.

There seems to be some confusion in the forum about this subject, claimants can request that the Assessment Provider changes the assessment process; for example; to a Paper based one, but, they cannot require it!
The decision to chang the process first of all lies with the Assessment Provider and the finally with the DWP, although involving the DWP can take months and they may still accept the AP's view.
You can reschedule the assessment once without fault so, if you are able, you could do this to gain more time but be aware that failing to participate in a second appointment will result in your file being returned to the DWP with the possibility of your claim being closed.
