2 years ago I had major surgery for mouth cancer (most of upper jaw replaced with most of lower L leg) + I had enough difficulty getting the DWP to approve everything whilst I was still undergoing radiotherapy. The surgery seems to be initially successful although reconstruction has not yet been and my never be possible.
Then, almost exactly a year ago another mass was found in my nose and this time I was told (1 sentence by a registrar) that it was "inoperable", "terminal" + they could only offer me palliative care.
Perhaps bizarrely, I later felt a relief that at least with a guesstimate of 10 months, the DWP couldn't hassle me too much.
However, having chosen the palliative least likely to work but the only one with any chance of extending life, it has worked although the chances of a success like this were incredibly small - probably less than 1%
QUESTION: Now back to the DWP ...... what happens when the terminally ill stop being that?
