universal credit was created by izzysmate
my son is on universal credit and is on highest rate of PIP for care and lowest mobility.
He is suffering at the moment with physical and mental health problems, I am trying to fill in forms to get him the Universal Credit limited capability of work related activity group at an extra £390.06 a month.
He needs to go to work to prevent him becoming socially isolated
We got him a house so he does not pay rent (he pays mortgage and does not want a loan for this from DWP)
He lives on his own, over 25 with no dependents so he gets the basic Universal credit of £368.74 a month
He has a job with zero hours contract and he gets paid monthly
What I what to know is if he earns just over the £397 for one month: then will this stop him first of all being awarded the limited capability of work related activity group (LCWRAG)? and then if he was awarded LCWRAG and he was to earn over the £397 again after a few months later, would they stop him the LCWRAG for one month or stop the LCWRAG all together?
His mental health is bad at the moment and he gets periods of getting worse and better, the ideal thing would be for him to feel so much better he does not have UC at all but it would be good to know how his UC rates are affected when he tries to work more and possibly fails one month.

Hi izzysmate
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
You need to seek advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation; advicelocal.uk as your post is not correct, if your son is placed in the LCW/LCWRA and worked he would get a work allowance, as he would not be claiming a Housing Element as he owns his own home, he would get the higher amount(£631) pm, this amount would be taken away from his net income and then the balance is hit by the earnings taper 55% the balance figure is then deducted from his UC applicable amount.
