Hi. I am new here so apologies if this isn't the right way of doing things or anything.
I received a letter today telling me that my DLA reconsideration has been rejected so my only option is to appeal.
I realise now having joined here and read a few things that I've been incredibly naive (or stupid), but I'm really shellshocked by it. It has taken so long that I was sure they'd correct it.
I have been on DLA for 5 years. I have Narcolepsy and CFS. I've never had any problems with my claims for DLA or IB before.
This time they rejected my claim based solely on my form then when reconsidering asked for a letter from my GP, but appear to have ignored that too. On my last renewal I was sent for a medical, but not this time.
I'm just terrified now their decision could in some way also impact when my next IB renewal/change to ESA comes up. I think I've been very stupid not realising that it's obviously just been luck I've been ok in the past.
I don't even know where to begin with an appeal. Steep learning curve coming up and I just hope I have the energy for it.
We occassionaly hear of a failed ESA claim causing a re-assessment of a DLA claim, however, I can't remember ever hearing of a failed DLA claim affecting and IB or ESA one.
The very worst that could happen is that it initiates your transfer from IB to ESA, but even this is unlikely as the DWP are working off lists of claimants to ensure everybody is transferred.
Hope this helps
Gordon
