OK so now I'm totally confused. I've had my medical and been placed in the WRAG. I've printed off the appeal forms as I disagree with being placed in the WRAG but am wondering if it is worth going down this road or not.
I understand you can reapply for ESA 12 weeks after CB ESA has finished and 'start afresh'. My confusion is over the NI Contribution requirement rules. I am registered as self-employed but obviously have not been working, so my NI contributions have been covered by ESA and once that stops, I will again be paying Class 4 contributions for the 12 weeks.
Is that enough to be entitled to start a new claim? I'm just trying to decide which is least stressful route to pursue and would appreciate and help.
I won't quality for IB related ESA due to my husband working.
Eligibility for a contribution based benefit is determined by your NI Contributin record and your NI Contribution and/or NI Credits record.
ESA only pays NI Credits, so you will not be able to re-qualify unless you are able to meet the NI Contribution Condition. NI Contributions can only be earned through employment or registered self-employment, and need to have been made in sufficient quantity during the relevant qualifying years.
