I'm sharing a flat, joint tenancy, with a friend and her grown up son who is at college. A few month ago I informed DLA of a change in my health and was moved to mid care and high mobility. I then received a form for SDP from the Benefit Office.I filled it in and send it back. This was nearly 2 month ago and I'm still waiting. When I phone I'm told they either have not received it or its with the DM. I dont even know if I'm entitled to it as there's confusing information on the net regarding people living at same address. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
I'm afraid there is no definitive set of criteria for the Severe Disability Premium, so we are unable to say whether you meet the requirements or not, but in general you need to show that you and the other people in the flat lead seperate lives. Things that will be considered are seperate rent books, seperate bedrooms, you may need to show how you manage communial areas such as the kitchen.
I'm afraid the only advice I can give is for you to keep chasing the DWP.
Good luck
Gordon
