I re- registered my claim for esa last Friday when I came out of hospital and today received a call from them to check a couple of simple questions
at the end of the call I asked if there was an end date on my esa claim( I am on contribution based esa) and was told I will receive a letter in april telling me what happens next .
can your site tell me what that means please
It sounds as if the reassessment date for your original claim (poor choice of words but I can't think of anything better ) is April of next year, on this basis we would expect you to receive a new ESA50 to complete some time in March.

If you are not in the Support Group then your ESA(CB) payments are limited to 365 days, but otherwise there is not need for the DWP to re-visit your Contributions as your claim is continuous.
It sounds like the call centre operator has a little knowledge of the system and applies it to everything whether it is relevant or not.

I did "IF you are not in the SG"
There's no need for the DWP to look at your Contributions you have an on-going claim and a reassessment is simply a continuation of your claim.
