The DWP won't acknowledge the Tribunal Decision.

It usually takes them 5-8 weeks to process a Tribunal result. You should ring them to make sure that they have received the Decision Notice from the TS, the lose them quite regularly.

Thank you Gordon. I have spoken with the DWP and they said that it should be sorted before my next signing on date. This hasn't happened and I get the feeling that most of the Job centre staff and the ESA staff don't really know what to do after an appeal positive result. I spoke to the DWP again and after a long pause, they came back to me and said that I needed to contact the Job centre and close off my claim and then go back to them and they should then be able to initiate the ESA again. What a lot of inconvenience and then I am told that they will only pay the ESA from the closure of jobseekers claim date.

There is a clear division in the DWP between the Benefit Centre staff who administer benefits and the JC+ staff who operate them, so you shouldn't be too surprised that your advisor at your JC+ knows little about the process, it's just not their job to know about appeals.

You will certainly need to close your JSA claim before they can put you back onto ESA, you can't claim both at the same time, in fact they use the same computer system so, so it's actually physically impossible because of this.

You won't lose out monetarily but there may be a gap between the payments so it might be worth your timing the closure of your JSA for just after a payment so that minimise any impact.
