I have received my "verdict" from DWP re my PIP claim and I have been awarded standard care and standard mobility which means that my Mobility Car has to be returned. I scored 10 points on mobility but lost out due to the fact that I have a brain and can plan a journey. How can this be right? It was stated in my assessors report that I was capable of planning a journey, no mention of not being able to make the journey after the planning stage. Just because I can plan a journey doesn't mean that my mobility has improved. It has in fact got worse which was upheld by the assessment process yet I lose my car. All I can say is there but for the grace of God, go those who make the rules. I received my assessors report and it was complete and concise and true (but I did record it). Next review in 2 years time.
I'm sorry that your award is not what you feel it should be. The mobility descriptor was deliberately made brutally difficult! The planning a journey descriptor relates only to people with cognitive, sensory or mental health difficulties - you will not score any points there if you do not have a considerable problem in these areas
Bearing in mind the above, you are entitled to ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration of the award if you believe you should have scored more points. Have a look at the PIP guide and see what you think.
